Report of a meeting

His Excellency Mr. Mamady Traore, was received in a hearing this Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at his request from 10:15 to 11: 00 by Mr. Mubarak Al-Azmi, National Director of Labour in Kuwait. This hearing is the logical follow-up to his meeting on Thursday, September 13, 2018 with Mr. Sami Abdulaziz Ahmad Alhamad, the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs to Consular Affaires, in search of appropriate solutions to the recurring problems of his domestic countrymen in Kuwait.

Following the usual greetings, the Ambassador thanked Mr. Mubarak Al-Azmi for the welcome that was reserved for him and for receiving him despite his very busy schedule. He thanked her for all the assistance that her services provide to embassy officers in managing the files of Guinean maids in difficulty with their employers and recruitment offices.

In return, the National Director of Labour of Kuwait, Mr. Mubarak Al-Azmi, thanked the Guinean Ambassador for honouring him for his visit and excellent initiative.

Mr. Mamady Traore then addressed the subject of his visit, which is summarized in two key points: Instruct the director of the accommodation centre to welcome the girls as soon as they arrive at the embassy, pending their completion with the competent authorities for the regularization of their situation or their return to the country. Organize the recruitment of servants through a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Guinea, Kuwait and all parties concerned.

Mr. Mubarak Al-Azmi, in response to the Ambassador’s first concern, explained a simplified procedure resulting in the early admission of girls to the accommodation centre, which consists of taking their fingerprints from arrivals in order to identify their sponsors and the office that brought them to Kuwait will then be taken to the housing centre pending the completion of the proceedings, in reply to the second concern he said that there is a law in Kuwait that gives maids all their rights in accordance with international standards but that unfortunately the offices do not explain this law to maids. He then said that this is why this law has been translated into several languages for widespread dissemination. He handed over a French copy of this law to the Ambassador of Guinea.

Mr. Mubarak Al-Azmi, then invited the Guinean Ambassador to make a courtesy visit to Colonel Abdulla Rashed Al Hajri, Assistant Director General for Administration and Public Affairs, the visit went well and the Ambassator had a cordial exchange with the Colonel.

The visit ended a note of satisfaction from all parties at 11: 00
