Minutes of Hearing of the Ambassador of Guinea to the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce.

Returning to Kuwait on Tuesday 03 July 2018 after two weeks in Conakry, as part of the signing of a loan agreement of 8 million Kuwaiti dinars between Guinea and the Kuwaiti Development Fund for the realization of four exchanges at Conakri, agreement already ratified unanimously by the elected people on Thursday 4 July 2018, Ambassador Mamady Traore was received in hearing this Wednesday 04 July 2018 at his request by Mr. Hamad Jarah Al-Omar, Deputy Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait, in the absence of the Director General on a mission abroad.

The Deputy Director-General thanked the Guinean diplomat for this wonderful initiative and made a brief presentation on the natural potential of our country; he then informed the Ambassador of the existence of two protocols of agreements signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of our two countries, one in 2000 and the other in 2008 under the leadership of Mr. Lansana Kouyaté.

The Ambassador, in turn, thanked the Deputy Director-General for having received it despite his busy schedule, welcomed the existence of two protocols of agreement between the chambers and expressed regret that they had not since seen the start of implementation. He then expressed his determination and determination, as the first ambassador of Guinea to Kuwait, to give new impetus to trade relations between the two sides, while stating that the Chamber of Commerce was among the first institutions he wished to meet immediately after submitting his letters of credit to His Highness the Emir of Kuwait. He indicated that the present approach is a logical follow-up to this will.

The Deputy Director-General welcomed the wish of the Guinean diplomat and sought information on the current legal framework for investment in Guinea, including the investment law in Guinea and the conditions for the transfer of funds. He also asked the Ambassador whether the guinean Government had any public services that it would like to privatize, such as airports, ports or railways, or the construction of hotels, the development of large agricultural fields, etc.

In response, the Ambassador promised to meet with the Deputy Director-General shortly to provide answers to some of these questions. He hoped that the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce would send an invitation to their Guinea counterparts to visit Kuwait to finally lay the foundations for a win-win trade cooperation between the two sides.

In his reply, the Deputy Director-General reassured the Ambassador that the doors of the House were widely open to Guinean businessmen and that they would be welcomed to Kuwait at any time after September with well-examined projects and expressed the House’s readiness to link them with the 400,000 existing companies in Kuwait.

The Ambassador replied that there are possibilities in certain areas he mentioned. However, he said that the visit of the Guinean Chamber of Commerce and Industry to Kuwait would be an opportunity to examine all these issues in detail and in depth. In the meantime, he promised to send him answers to some of the questions raised.

The meeting ended with a note of satisfaction, with the Deputy Director-General handing over to the Ambassador documents concerning the activities of the House and the access key to his institution.
